Which analogue mono synth - part 2 (this time it's marimbral....)

As promised, here is a follow up comparison - this time with a tuned percussion sound using square waves. There is no agenda here, I'm just curious as to how close I can get with each synth. As before, the envelopes are critical here, in terms of how they shape the filter. Envelopes seem to be relatively selected in terms of comments comparing synthesizers - most emphasis being on the oscillators and filters - but to me they are critical, particularly on fast changes, where differences in the filter itself may not be that apparent. Parameter    Details Osc 1            square wave i.e. 50% duty cycle Osc 2  square wave narrow duty cycle Oscillator  Mix equal balance two octaves apart,  a little de-tune. Filter low pass zero resonance, high keyboard and envelope control,  cutoff low. Which "analogue" mono synth? Part 1.

I finally got around to making a proper (kind of) post...  i f you're bored by/not interested in  (yet more) internet synth comparisons, then please read no further and don't bother to comment. Otherwise, read on... After many years without my studio set up, I've finally started getting the hardware out and getting it all rigged up again. Also, I've "invested" (probably the not the right word here!) in some new (to me at least) synths, and started working out how I'm going to be able get everything working together, also with the possibility of doing some live jamming if not gigging. If like me you spend time watching youtube vids, reading soundonsound and wading through lengthy gearslutz  discussions (for want of a better word), you quickly get caught up in the endless debates regarding which synth is better than another, whether cheap gear sounds as good as expensive, is old kit much better than new, should I wait for vapourware or buy what...

Hi, Welcome to this blog, which you've somehow stumbled across. I am synthmatters and I'm a long time user of synths .  Now it's out there.  This is a place to share my addiction and put various ideas out there about what makes various synths so great and some not so great, the odd review, hopefully some interesting sounds, vids and other things as the blog develops. I expect only accidental readers to drop by, but if anything turns out to be of interest, do let me know.  Expect most of this blog to focus on old (or new-old) gear. So who am I? I've been playing around with synths for longer than I care to remember, but suffice it to say that I grew up with analogue synths of 1980s, foolishly sold some for peanuts in the late eighties digital revolution, failed to buy any of the early1990s second hand analogue bargains, and recently acquired some reissues at vast expense, although cheaper than buying originals!  I als...
